Practical Behavioral Strategies

Presented by Chandeep Kohli, Founder/Owner, Cully LLC

February 21, 2026

Big behaviors can feel confusing, exhausting, and sometimes even defeating for families. This presentation was created to help parents step back, understand what is really happening, and feel more confident in how they respond.

At the core of this session is one simple but powerful truth: All behavior is communication

Chandeep walks families through the four common reasons behavior happens, including attention, escape, sensory needs, and access . Instead of asking, “How do I stop this?” parents are encouraged to ask, “What is my child trying to tell me?”

Using real life examples and relatable scenarios, the presentation explains how behavior is often just the visible tip of the iceberg. Underneath can be overwhelm, anxiety, fatigue, skill gaps, or communication challenges . When we understand the “why,” our responses become calmer and more effective.

Families also learn practical strategies they can begin using right away at home, including:

  • Teaching replacement skills when something is missing
  • Creating predictable routines that calm the nervous system
  • Supporting emotional regulation before trying to reason
  • Setting clear and consistent expectations
  • Strengthening functional communication
  • Intentionally reinforcing positive behavior
  • Responding as a calm, regulated adult even in hard moments

This session reflects Cully’s commitment to supporting children, empowering families, and creating environments where growth feels possible and sustainable .
